        New Technology for Darwin
Darwin School recently added 6 new Promethian Boards for grades 6 through 8. These boards are the latest in classroom technology and allows for students to interact with the board for extensive learning. The boards are part of Mr. Segovia's technology initiative for Darwin School. The 6 boards will serve to allow students to interact with the curriculum in ways never seen before. The boards are set up to laptops with the new Promethian software that the teachers use to create interactive lessons. The students, with the use of a special pen, manipulate what is on the screen in any way the teacher specifies. For example, a grammar class may have incorrect sentence structures that the students now correct using the Promethian pen. The boards will also make math class more interactive as students work hands-on to answer problems. There are few limits to what can be done with the boards once our teachers master the software.The pictures show Mr. Walsh currently using the Promethian Boards with a 6th grade classroom. The students were identifying the distinct parts of a business letter in preparation for a writing project. We also have a new 30 laptop wireless cart that enables up to 30 students to each have a laptop and be on a wireless server at the same time. http://www.prometheanworld.com/ |
